An examination of leisure time involvement and happiness of individuals skiing as A recreational activity

The aim of this study is to determine the difference between the demographic characteristics of individuals who do skiing as a recreational activity and their leisure activity involvement and happiness levels. In this research, 302 randomly selected individuals participated who did recreational skiing with accommodation in Bingöl Haseke Ski Center during the 2021-2022 ski season. The survey method was used in the collection of data in the study. For the demographic characteristics of the participants, the individual introduction form, the free time interest scale (SSIÖ) and the Oxford Happiness Scale were used. The data were analyzed with the SPSS 24.0 program and the significance level of statistical analyses was accepted as p<0.05. In the light of the analysis made, it has been determined that the level of leisure time involvement and happiness differ according to gender, age, education, marital status, monthly income, years of skiing, and how many different ski resorts they are in. As a result, It has been determined that the leisure time level of interest of individuals who do recreational skiing with accommodation in Haserek Ski Center in Bingöl province in the 2021-2022 ski season is high, but their happiness level about skiing is moderate.
