Abstract (EN)
Tradition is as relevant today as it was in the past. It has been constantly on the agenda, especially in art and literature. Today's artist considers tradition from two perspectives. The first is "copying the tradition exactly" and the second is "reconstructing the tradition". Although many artists start their relationship with tradition from the first category and continue it in the second category, very few artists successfully continue their contact with tradition through the second category. Güray Süngü, the successful name of contemporary Turkish short story writing, is one of the writers who perceive tradition in the second category. Güray Süngü has written both stories and novels. He skillfully utilized tradition in both genres. In this study, Güray Süngü's stories are analyzed in terms of "tradition". In terms of conceptual and approach, René Guénon's understanding of tradition, who put forward a different understanding of tradition and criticism of modernism both in his period and before him, was taken as a measure in our study. René Guénon is a thinker who made a name for himself both in the world and in our country with his life, ideas and works and influenced many important names. In our study, René Guénon's ideas and their relationship with Güray Süngü's stories, their common points and similarities were also examined. As we examined in detail in the study, Güray Süngü's stories overlap with many of René Guénon's ideas in terms of both tradition and modernism. Süngü's stories touch on tradition in many ways and contain many traditional elements. When we look at Süngü's first story book from his last story book from a traditional perspective, the author gets closer to the tradition as he writes and gets older. In addition, Güray Süngü not only focused on traditional elements in his stories, but also expressed many criticisms of modernism and the age.
