The use of folk culture elements in the novels of Reşat Ekrem Koçu

"Culture" is the totality of creation and all created formation, which is the basis for the formation of man. Culture is the whole of the creations, values and behaviors that are transferred from generation to generation as a result of human intellectual, religious and emotional activities. When you think of culture, traditions come to mind. Because traditions and customs provide continuity; It is social, created and shared by people. Culture, in its most general definition, is everything material and spiritual that man creates and adds to nature. Many things go into this, from the clothes she wears to her diet, from the style of shelter to religious belief, from her social organization to the ideological frameworks in which she makes sense of life. Reşad Ekrem Koçu is an author who is known as a folklorist as well as a historian and has nearly a hundred books. Koçu became a "popular historian" who opened up and popularized Ottoman history, which he sometimes told with a laudatory attitude, to a large audience. He made almost historical paintings by giving rich details about the daily life and human relations of the periods he described in his works. He treated Istanbul folklore live in every publication, especially in the Istanbul Encyclopedia. In our study, folk culture elements included in Reşad Ekrem Koçu's novels Esircibaşı, Kabakçı Mustafa, Kösem Sultan I-II, Binbirdirek Batakhanesi Cevahirli Hanımsultan, Forsa Halil and Patrona Halil will be determined based on Sedat Veyis Örnek's "Village-City Monography" scheme.
