Interpretations of the massifications formed by consumption in the pictures

Rapidly emerging technology in the 19th century, constituted consumption society by creating a new order and society type. Mechanisation that came within the industrial age takes a significant space in the history of humanity. In ancient ages, everything that self- supporting or have the ability to live on within the limits of life, could come out of the blue. The increase of factories in cities showed its effects mostly in rural areas, the life style has started to change in this direction. Production has mounted in industrial era. This fast increase has brought the "consumption culture" along with it. The aim of this study is, based on the scrap objects of the consumption society, to emphasize the challenge on one hand and to obtain a genuine pictorial language on the other. In researches, scrap piles have been studied and data collected. Related with the topic of the dissertation, the lives, views and the works of the artists as well as the periods have been studied in the context of their ties to topics from past to present. Scrap objects have been handled and today's problem of consumption is touched on. Use of "ready to use objects" which is in demand recently, massification which comes with scrap objects were examined in terms of art. In this dissertation, the first chapter focuses on the consumption society that came up with the industrialisation and the elements which affected 20th century art. The second chapter focuses on the reasons of handling the studies, implementations and analyses. Within the scope of this thesis, 9 application studies were conducted. In the pictures, plastic, metal, iron etc materials have been used for the objects of the consumption. Sketches have been made from the single or mixed forms of the objects, then compositions have been formed in different perspectives on canvas and tried to be stated in a pictorial language. In conclusion of these studies, "ready to use objects have been commented to conclude a general problem.
