The place of horse figures as a pictorial image in Turkish painting art

The horse has an important social and cultural value in Turkish society. This value is directly reflected in Turkish art. With the development of Turkish painting, artists started to use the horse figure in their works with different techniques and interpretations. Thus, the horse figure has become an important image in the works of art. Although a single subject is studied in the art of painting, different interpretations and styles of each artist have come to the fore. Many artists have enriched the Turkish painting by taking the horse figure which is a natural entity with its original interpretations. Artists approached the horse figure from different perspectives in their own world and made sense in their own way. Thus, the horse is subject to the interpretation of many artists in the Turkish painting art and has the character of a rich figure in plastic sense. In this research, the place and importance of horse figures in Turkish painting is examined and it is aimed that the researcher made paintings about horses and analyzed them. This thesis, which deals with horse images in Turkish painting, consists of three chapters and conclusion. In the first part of the thesis, ''Morphology of the Horse'' and ''The Place of the Horse in Turkish Culture'' are discussed. In the second part, the theme of horse painting in Western painting and Turkish painting is examined with the title of ''Horse Image in the Art of Painting''. In the third part, the studies about horses and the analysis of these studies are given. In this process, twenty-three oil painting techniques were applied, ten of which were sketches. Each of the studies were analyzed separately from a plastic point of view and a certain result was reached. Keywords: Horse Figure, Horse Image in Turkish Painting, Image.
