Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the digital images of the retina vessels, optic nerves, optic disc and optic cup regions have been extracted from the digital images of the retina. Information on edge detection filters is also presented. 7*7 filters, which are used to extract the images of vessels, are described. The K-Means clustering algorithm, which is used to detect optic disc and cup regions, is explained. In the next stage, the results which are optained from extracting digital images of the vessels and the optic nerves are combined with that of the optic disc and cup regions. Thus, the final image is obtained. The final image is displayed on the screen and it is required. This final image can be saved as an image file in any format. The areas of the regions within the retina structure are calculated. The output data is displayed on the screen and they are saved as an excel file. These operations are performed using the MATLAB software and its graphical user interface feature. With the aid of the developed algorithm and the user interface, all of the operations do have a graphical feature which makes the developed procedure more users friendly.
