Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACTPURPOSEEvaluation of macular thickness and visual acuity after intravitreal bevacizumab injection versus systemic ca dobesilat treatment due to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO).Materials and methodsWe reviewed the records of 31 patients with branch retinal vein occlusion who were followed up in Düzce Medical Faculty Ophtalmology Department between January 2009 and May 2012 retrospectively. We compared the examination findings of patients with macular thickness values, visual acuity before and after intravitreal bevacizumab therapy in 6 months.SignsThis retrospective study included 31 eyes of 31 patients (20 women, 11 men; mean age was 62 ± 7 years (range 43-80 years). The best corrected visual acuity in patiens of bevacizumab showed significant improvement at the 1., 3. and 6. month compared with the earlier state (p<0,05). Macular thickness decreased from 528 ± 128.?m at baseline to 439 ± 138 ?m at 6. monthResultsIntravitreal therapy using bevacizumab appears to be an effective primary treatment option for macula edema due to BRVO. No serious ophthalmologic or systemic side effects were observed for intravitreal bevacizumab therapy. Keywords: Branch retinal vein occlusion, Bevacizumab
