Abstract (EN)

Retreatment is the most used and most conservative treatment option in endodontic failures. In retreatment cases, the goal is to remove contaminated filling material from root canals, reduce the microbial load by chemomechanical shaping, and refill root canals hermetically. Irrigation activation devices are frequently used to increase success in both primary treatments and retreatment cases. GuttaFlow Bioseal is a hybrid sealer that promises improved biocompatibility, biomineralization, adaptation by adding bioactive glass particles to traditional silicone-based root canal sealers. Our study aims to evaluate the sealing efficiency of GuttaFlow Bioseal with glucose penetration technique in tooth samples that were applied different final activation procedures after a standard mechanical shaping in retreatment cases. There is no other study in the literature examining the microleakage of GuttaFlow Bioseal with glucose penetration. 70 mandibular premolars were used in the study. Standard primary root canal treatment was applied to samples. After 2 weeks, roots were mechanically shaped as part of retreatment and divided into subgroups for different final irrigation: manual irrigation, sonic and ultrasonic activation. Root canal filling was performed using the single cone technique with AH Plus or GuttaFlow Bioseal. Microleakage levels were compared by determining the glucose amount of test setups at certain time intervals. Statistical analyzes were performed with Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Independent T-Test, ANOVA, Paired-Samples T-Test. Microleakage was observed in all samples; the relationship between microleakage and time was statistically significant. No statistically significant differences were observed between GuttaFlow Bioseal and AH Plus groups and different activation techniques.
