Rifat Efendi's work titled 'Delâilu'l-İkân fî Beyâni Kavaidi'l-Imân' and its translation and analysis

This thesis is comprised of the analysis of Rıfat Efendi's work titled "Delâilü'l-Îkan fî Beyâni Kavâidi'l-İman" and its translation into Latin letters. The analysis of the book in question, which we identified as the first work written in the Ottoman neighborhood of Istanbul in the period of "New Science of Kelâm", which emerged as a result of the effect of modernization movements on theology, was carried out by comparing it with six kalam works written in the period Rıfat Efendi lived. The sources we refer to in this context are as follows: Abdullatif Harpûtî's Tenkîhu'l Kelâm fi Akâid-i Ehli'l-Islâm, İzmirli İsmail Hakkı's New İlm-i Kelâm, Ömer Nasûhî Bilmen's Muvazzah İlm-i Kelâm Lessons, Ahmed Hilmi's work titled Filibe's Base Islam: Basic Principles of the Islamic Belief, Kenzü'l Akâid by Süleyman Sırrı and Akîdetü'l-Islam by Muhammed Mekki Azzuz. The study consists of an introduction and three parts. In the introduction part, the subject of the study, its importance, scope and the method used are discussed. In the first chapter, information is given about Yeni İlm-i Kelâm and the life and works of Rıfat Efendi. Thus, the position of the work called Delâilü'l-Îkan fî Beyâni Kavâidi'l-İman and its author Rıfat Efendi in the period of New Science of Kelâm has been pointed out. In the second part, the analysis of Delâilü'l-Îkan fî Beyâni Kavâidi'l-İman was carried out within the framework of the aforementioned works. Thus, the beginning of the period was clarified as well as developing a comprehensive perspective on the period. In the third part, the transcription of Delâilü'l-İkan fî Beyâni Kavâidi'l-İman is given. As a result, access to the work itself has been facilitated and the study is likely to contribute to prospective studies.
