Abstract (EN)

Although Rıfat Ilgaz wrote individual poems until especially 1940s, he mostly took his place in Turkish literature with poems he wrote from the point of socialist and realist view. The socialist realist poetry that Rıfat Ilgaz internalised and the formation of socialist realist movement of 1940's generation occur almost at the same term. His first poem within this approach is Bu Saatte (1940) and the poetry book is Yarenlik (1943). Eventhough Rıfat Ilgaz, who found his place in the socialist community with these works of art, had some periods when he tended to be 'romantic', within the poems that he wrote all his life along he remained faithful to the 1940s in poetic terms. Within this study prepared for postgraduate thesis, Rıfat Ilgaz's poems, who is a socialist realist poet, have been studied with structural Marxist criticism method. Since structural Marxist criticism improve while it is dependent on theoreticians, there has not been an agreement on research subjects and principles yet. So, when the structural Marxist criticism method was used, important theoretician of the area, Terry Eagleton, were followed. Key words: Rıfat Ilgaz, Structural Marxist Criticism, Socialist Realism
