Investigation of removal of eriochrome black t from aqueous solutions using by Rhizopus arrhizus, active carbon and amberlyst

Abstract (EN)

Removal of Eriochrome Black T from aqueous solutions was studied by using Rhizopus arrhizus, active carbon and Amberlyst A21 as adsorbents. Effects of pH and initial concentration on removal of Eriochrome Black T were investigated. As a result of adsorption studies; it was seen that Eriochrome Black T was removed effectively by Rhizopus arrhizus and active carbon. The maximum percentage removal for all the tested three adsorbents was observed at pH 2.0. The adsorption equilibrium time was determined as 24 hours for Rhizopus arrhizus and Amberlyst A21, 10 hours for active carbon. At the end of equilibrium time; the percentage removal for Rhizopus arrhizus, active carbon and Amberlyst A21 were calculated as % 89.14; % 95.24 and % 66.17 respectively. Adsorption equilibrium data were examined according to Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherm models. The kinetic investigations were carried out using by pseudo first order, pseudo second order and intra particle diffusion kinetic models.
