Abstract (EN)
Treatment of bone losses in the jaw bones, has an important role in oral surgery. Bone loss can develop for many reasons. Anticoagulant drugs take an important place among these reasons. Rivaroxaban is a new oral anticoagulant, which is one group of anticoagulant drugs, often prescribed against the risk of venous thromboembolism. Studies investigating of the effects of rivaroxaban on osteoblast in cell culture have reported negative effects on osteoblastic activity. However, these results should be supported by in vivo researches. The aim of our study is to evaluate effects of rivaroxaban on bone defects healing, bone graft healing and interaction with Ankaferd Blood Stopper histopathologically. In our study, 24 male Wistar Albino rats were randomly divided into six groups. Three groups received rivaroxaban and the other three received saline with oral gavage method once a day for six weeks preoperatively and four weeks postoperatively totally ten weeks. According to experiment groups, defects rinsed with saline and left blank and filled with bone graft or bone graft with Ankaferd Blood Stopper. After four weeks healing period all rats were sacrificed and calvarial bones were excised. Asignificant difference was found between groups in terms of new bone formation, fibrosis and healing score. These data show that rivaroxaban has no negative effect on bone healing and Ankaferd Blood Stopper may enhance healing process but not new bone formation.
