Abstract (EN)

The main aim of this thesis is to perform the exergetic sustainability evaluation of an air source heat pump in climatic conditions of Rize province. For this purpose, the heating and cooling processes of a polyclinic with a central air conditioning system integrated with air source heat pump (HKIP) in Rize province were designed and examined. In terms of the First and the Secon Law of Thermodynamics, the required energetic and exergetic balance equations are derived to estimate the exergetic sustainability parameters of each unit in the system. Accordingly, as a result of the exergetic sustainability calculations, it is seen that the system provides the desired comfort under the temperate and high humidity-climatic conditions of Rize, and also the system has higher efficiency in the summer season than that in the winter season. In terms of exergetic sustainability, it is important that waste exergy ratio and environmental impact factor should be low and exergy recovery ratio and environmental sustainability index should be high. It is determined that the air conditioning circuit has lower environmental sustainability values when compared to heat pump circuit. In the air conditioning circuit, the waste exergy ratio and the environmental sustainability index values are found to be as avarage 36%, 428.6 for the heating process and, 31%, 1952.5 for cooling process, respectively. In addition, the waste exergy ratio and environmental sustainability index values in the heat pump circuit are obtained as 11%, 1648.4 and 6%, 1508.4% for the cooling process, respectively. The proposed system is thermodynamically suitable for humid climatic conditions. Furthermore, it is thought that, to carry out the exergetic sustainability assessment of the systems which are produced in the HVAC sector will contribute to come along more efficient and environmentally friendly systems in this sector.
