Summary Investigation Of Sea Fillings In Rize And Trabzon The new settlement areas had been needed in the eastern Black Sea region, especially in Rize, Trabzon and around these cities because of the restricted settlement and increasing population It is possible to stretch these new settlements out from coasts towards mountains. Instead of this kind of settling, the administrators have preferred getting more and more areas by filling the sea. Some situations have not taken into consideration while getting more new settlement areas by filling the sea. These situations are as follows: How will the effects of fillings be on the coast hydrodynamic equilibrium? And what will advantages and disadvantages be on the developing of the city? Up to now fillings made in Rize and Trabzon have come true in a long period of time and these fillings are still going on. Research and studies in this thesis contain seven main chapters and an appendix. In the first chapter, some knowledge has been given about purpose and embrace of this study, Coast law and its application have been presented. In the second chapter, shore protection structures and the effects of the sea fillings on coastal hydrodynamic are examined. In the third chapter, getting areas by sea fillings and how to use these areas have been researched. In the fourth chapter, the need of areas in Rize and Trabzon, is researched. In the fifth chapter, the effects of sea fillings on coastal hydrodynamic balance are examined. The conclusions of this study and suggestions are given in the sixth and seventh respectively. In the appendix, pre-fillings photos are compared with post-fillings photos in Rize and Trabzon. The reconstruction maps of sea fillings have been given.
