Investigating the effect of the use of Geogebra Program in the teaching of basic topological concepts in Rn space

In this study, a research was made on the investigation of the effect of using Geo Gebra in computer-aided teaching of basic topological concepts in Rn space. For this purpose, in 2015-2016 academic year an experimental study was carried out with 40 second year students registered of the Department of Elemantary Mathematics Teaching in Kastamonu University. These 40 students were subjected to the readiness test prepared by the researcher and three specialists in the field before the research. In order to determine the experimental and control groups, the students were ranked according to their scores from the readiness test. To ensure heterogeneity binary groups are specified, and one of them was assigned to the experimental group, the other was assigned to the control group impartially. Before the research, It was confirmed that the groups are equivalent to each other in terms of success.Afterwards, the topological concepts achievement test prepared by the three academicians who are experts in the field, was applied as a pre-test. In the research process, traditional teaching and computer-assisted teaching were carried out simultaneously by the same lecturer in both groups. In the control group that traditional teaching used the sequence of the definition, theorem, proof was followed. In the experimental group, teaching of topological concepts was performed Computer-aided. A final test was applied after 12 lecture hours. The quantitative data obtained were analyzed by appropriate parametric statistical tests. According to the findings of the research, pre-implementation from teacher candidates equivalent to success in the experimental and control group, After the GeoGebra supported teaching implementation Teacher candidates in the experimental group obtained different results in the test applied according to the teacher candidates in the control group. In addition, the candidate teachers in the experimental group have overall positive contribution GeoGebra supported teaching approach to the point of view of topological concepts.
