Abstract (EN)

This study is an analysis of Robert Schumann?s op.22 Piano Sonata. In this study, Robert Schumann?s idealistic and innovative approach is examined and analyzed considering the features of the 19 (th) century Romantic Period in which it was composed. The turning poins which helped shape his musical identity and how these turning points affected his creativity are explored in detail to gain an understanding of his work. The theme and motifs of op.22 Piano Sonata is analyzed through the form and general structure of the sonata considering the innovations Schumann brought into sense of form and intellectual music.
