Abstract (EN)
Birds have been one of the most interesting animals since ancient times. How they fly has always remained a question mark. Especially the latest technological developments have provided many advantages in imitating birds and flying bird robots have been made. Developed by imitating natural creatures flying with the help of wings, ornithopters can be designed to serve many tasks. Its greatest advantages are its resemblance to natural flying creatures, its quietness, and its simple structure. If the charging times of the batteries, which are the energy sources of these structures, can be extended, they can be used for security and military purposes, especially thanks to their camouflage capabilities. If it can fly for hours and travel kilometers without flapping its wings, as the albatross bird can, its functionality and importance will increase even more. In this study, important parameters of birds such as how birds fly, what forces are required to fly, and their wing structures are explained. A robotic bird design was made in accordance with the described parameters and the materials that could be used in its construction were investigated. In the analysis of airfoils, XFLR5, an open source design and analysis program that can analyze airfoils, wings and aircraft, was used for low values of Reynolds number, which determines the ratio of inertial forces to viscosity forces in fluid mechanics. In this way, possible effective wing profiles to be used in robotic bird design were obtained. A 3D robot design was also made using the wing profiles and parameters obtained in the analysis obtained in the study. Keywords: Robotic bird
