Abstract (EN)

Roland Dyens is a guitarist and composer who left a mark in 20th century guitar music with his works, arrangements and musical approaches. The guitarist-composer who has mastered the technical and cultural knowledge of many different types of music such as jazz, tango, latin and classical western music draws attention with his improvisation techniques. Organizing different types of music into guitar repertory, Dyens aimed to expand the guitar's color palette with innovative techniques and musical expressions. This study is composed of suggestions on technical and musical analysis and interpretation of the techniques that are used in the Night and Day album in which the composer arranged his jazz works to classical guitar. In the first part of the study, information about the guitarists who had an impact on the development of the guitar and whom Dyens was also influenced by were given. In the second part, there is general information about Roland Dyens' background, musical features, arrangements, and Night and Day album. The third part consists of technical and structural analysis of the arrangements of 10 works in the album Night and Day. The main purpose of this study is to examine the new techniques in the guitar repertory which are gained by Dyens who arranged the jazz music works to the classical guitar, and to obtain detailed information about their usage purposes and methods. This research is also aimed to guide guitarists who wants to play the works and arrangements by Roland Dyens. Keywords: Guitar, Roland Dyens, Night and Day, Analysis
