Abstract (EN)
The 20th century is a period when the philosophy of existence emerged. What makes the philosophy of existence different from other philosophies is that it is a philosophy about the individual rather than dwelling on the subject. Since Rollo May was an existential psychologist, he approached freedom through the individual in his work Freedom and Destiny. The fact that May has brought the individual to the forefront in his work and that freedom is evaluated together with fate, and also the fact that no examination and research has been done on it, has been effective in our investigation of his views and approach. The aim of our research is to reveal how Rollo May deals with the issue of freedom, what kind of treatment opportunity the understanding of freedom in his philosophy of existence and psychotherapy offers on his patients, what kind of connection he establishes between fate and freedom, what benefits gaining personal freedom provides for the individual, how accepting fate will liberate the person to put. The life, works and achievements of Rollo May are discussed in the introduction of our study, which consists of five parts, including an introduction, three parts and a conclusion. In the first chapter, the issue of freedom in the Greek philosophy of the First Age and freedom in Islamic thought and the views of thinkers on freedom are given. In the second part, the meaning of freedom and Rollo May's perspective on freedom and issues related to freedom are discussed. In the third part of our study, we tried to reveal how the issue of freedom and fate is evaluated according to May, what the relation of fate is with freedom and how death is related to freedom. In the conclusion part, the results that can be drawn from the whole study are expressed.
