Syria in the Roman age

Syria has hosted many civilizations due to its geographical location and strategic importance and been subjected to invasion of many states. Due to its strategic locations between Roman and Parthian Empires, it was one of the important provinces that Roman recognized as a privilege. The emergence of throne wars between the Seleucid kings caused the Seleucid state to weaken. Syria Province was founded in 64 B.C. by Roman commander Pompeius Magnus and a new page was opened in the history of Syria, because, after this history, Syria witnessed the Roman-Parthian wars. In our study on the Syrian-Roman relations in the Roman period, after the transformation of Syria into Roman province, social, political and military relations between Syria and Roman were examined. Also in our work, the rebellions of some of the kingdoms in Syria against Roman during the Roman period, the causes of these rebellions and signed treaties are also included.
