Food supply organization and strategy during the Roman Empire

This study aims to systematically examine the organization of food supply during the Roman Imperial Period, which is one of the most important components of the concept of nutrition. In this way, it seeks to contribute to the literature by providing a resource for researchers interested in the Roman Imperial Period as well as those studying food supply methods. The goal is to convey information about the history and development of gastronomy and to emphasize the importance of the supply aspect alongside stages such as cooking, storage, preparation, and preservation of food and beverages. The research aims to explore the history and stages of food supply organization during the Roman Imperial Period and to observe its impacts and reflections on the present day. Information on what food and beverages were brought to Rome from other regions during the Roman Imperial Period, by what means these supplies were transported, and in what containers and equipment the products were carried and stored will be included in the thesis. Additionally, the thesis examines the impact of the methods used in food supply organization during the Roman Imperial Period on the present day, and the findings are shared with the reader.
