Prusias ad Hypium in the Roman Imperial Period

Prusias ad Hypium, was one of the first provinces of Rome in Anatolia which is located in the eastern Bithynia, also known as the territory of Mariandyni and 8 km north of the city of Düzce, is under the name of Konuralp. It was one of the important cities of the region during the Roman Imperial period and has maintained this for a long time. The city which our knowledge of Pre-Roman had been a homeland for a lot of important personalities belonging to the administrative and military class who served Rome. In our study, Prusias ad Hypium city handled in the Roman Imperial period. In this context, a multidimensional source search has been done on many subjects such as the history, socio-cultural and administrative structure of city. After the source scan, modern sources which can be used as second-hand sources and the epigraphic, numismatic and philological information and documents that can be used as first hand sources has been benefited and also given place in our study. In this direction, the time from the years that Greek colonists founded the city Prusias ad Hypium which was also became famous in the Imperial period, to the time that the city bcome an aristocrats city which is ruled by Roman Empire with timokrats is taken in hand.
