Abstract (EN)

Art, which has been in a continuous development and change since the beginning of human history, has constantly moved and continued to develop. The subject of beauty, on the other hand, has become an important concept in the art of painting, has developed definitions on many artists and thinkers, has changed and progressed by being influenced by the economic, cultural, social, political, psychological, moral, religion, philosophy, technology and historical developments of the era. Therefore, in every period, a unique understanding of beauty and aesthetics has emerged in the art of painting. In this thesis, the changes in the perception of beauty in the Renaissance period with the modern art movements were examined. In the first part; The problem situation, purpose, importance, limitations and method of the research are included. In the second part; The concept of beauty and the understanding of beauty in the pre-Renaissance periods were examined. In the third part; The formations, tendencies and developments of the Renaissance period painting art in social and intellectual processes were examined together with the artists and their works. In the fourth chapter; Movements such as Cubism, Futurism and Dadaism, in which aesthetic concerns disappeared together with the development process of modern art and the avant-garde understanding of art, were handled through the works produced and the point reached by the aesthetic understanding was tried to be expressed.
