Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.), a medicinal and aromatic plant, is an antioxidant plant of the Lamiaceae. In this study, rosemary were collected from Gaziantep province (Southeastern of Turkey) and dried in the shade under appropriate conditions. The extracts of hexane, dichloromethane, methanol and extract were obtained from rosemary under appropriate conditions. Extracts from different solvents were evaluated for their oxidative status, DNA protective activity, antimicrobial properties, total flavonoid (TAS, TOS) and antipyretic activity (DPPH) were used to determine the oxidant status of rosemary. PBR322 plasmid DNA and UV-C method were used for DNA-protecting activity. In order to measure antimicrobial activity, microdilution method was preferred according to the CLS guideline As a result of this research, it was obvious that the herb extract had a maximal free radical scavenger effect at a concentration of 0.02 μg / ml and it was found to be around 75%. This has a protective effect against hydrogen peroxide and UV_C. The antimicrobial effect was not detected in our extracts obtained from rosemary. High phenolic and flavonoid components are found to be in the extract of rosemary. As a result of this study, rosemary plant has active compounds in antioxidant, phenolic, flavonoid contents and DNA protecting properties.
