Abstract (EN)
Evaluation of Somatotypes and Anthropometric Measurements of Patients With Rotator Cuff Tears Aim: This study aims to observe the relationship of somatotype with rotator cuff tears and see its effects in terms of pain and range of motion after physiotherapy. Material and Method: 84 patients (43 female, 41 male) diagnosed with RCT in Tekirdağ State Hospital between 2020 and 2021 were included. Participants were grouped and evaluated in terms of age and gender. VAS scoring for pain, WORC, SPADI and Quick Dash scores for shoulder function and ROM values were measured. Relevant anthropometric measurements were made. Heath-Carter method was used for somatotype. Results: 64 (76.2%) patients had endomorph-mesomorph, 14 (17%) had mesomorph-endomorph, 4 (5%) had mesomorph-endomorph, 1 (1%) had balanced mesomorph and 1 (1%) had ectomorph-endomorph somatotype. Of the male patients, 32 (78%) had endomorph-mesomorph, 8 (19.5%) had mesomorph-endomorph and 1 (2.5%) had balanced mesomorph somatotype. Of the female patients, 32 (74.4%) had endomorph-mesomorph, 6 (9.3%) had mesomorph-endomorph, 4 had mesomorph-endomorph and 1 (2.3%) had ectomorph-endomorph somatotype. 71.4% of the participants younger than 45 years of age and 50% of those between 45 and 55 had partial tear; 80% of those between 56 and 65 and 76.5% of those older than 65 had complete tear. Conclusion: Regardless of gender, RCT patients had predominantly mesomorphic body type. Individuals with mesomorphic body type are more likely to have RCT. Our results show that RCT prevalence does not change according to gender. Keywords: Rotator cuff tears, somatotype, anthropometry
