EFFECT OF THE CONSULTANCY BASED TO THE ROY ADAPTATION MODEL on NAUSEA and VOMITING in PREGNANCYIntroduction: Nausea and vomiting is a case that is seen on the majority of pregnant women. However, no study showing the effect of consultancy based on the Roy Adaptation Model on nausea and vomiting in pregnancy.Objective: The objective is to determine the effect of the consultancy based to the Roy Adaptatıon Model on nausea and vomiting in pregnancy.Method: The study contains two groups, which are experimental and control groups. Each group includes 31 people. While experimental group were given consultancy and brochure that were prepared according to the Roy Adaptation Model (RAM), control group were given only brochure. The data were collected via face-to-face interviews and weekly telephone interviews in both of the groups. The data were collected with descriptive data form, subscale of ?Pregnancy Acceptance? of Lederman?s Prenatal Self Assessment Scale, Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy Instrument, monitoring form of nutrition and VAS aimed at assessing some behaviours.Findings: It was determined that consultany is effective upon mild and moderate nausea and vomiting, but it is not effective upon intense nausea and vomiting. It was determined that the nausea and vomiting time is shorter amount of protein-weighted feeding is greater, their belief in cope with the nausea and vomiting is higher, they apply some suggested nutrition and lifestyle changes more greatly, their acceptance of the pregnancy is higher, they have a less anxiety about the possible damage of nausea and vomiting on their baby in the experimental group compared to the control group. Additionally, no difference was found between the groups, carbohydrate-weighted feeding and anxiety about the damage of nausea and vomiting on them.Result: It was determined that the consultancy given according to RAM is effective on nausea and vomiting in pregnancy. The results of the study confirmed the statement of Roy, that follows as ?a behaviour in an adaptation area becomes a stimulus for other adaptation areas?. Besides, it was also concluded that ?a behaviour in any adaptation area might become a stimulus for another behaviour in the same adaptation area?, which is not involved in the model.Keywords: Nausea in Pregnancy, Roy Adaptation Model, Consultancy, Nursing.
