Abstract (EN)
The Effect Of Home Care On The Adaptation Of Multiple Sclerosis Patients To Disease And Quality Of Life According To Roy Adaptation Model Objective: This study was conducted to determine the effect of home-based care for patients with multiple sclerosis on patient compliance and quality of life according to the Roy Adaptation Model. Material and Method: This study was conducted as a Solomon Four-group Trial model. The study's universe consisted of 244 patients enrolled in Elazığ Fırat University Hospital Neurology Clinic, who were diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis residing in Elazığ province center. Since the whole of the universe was planned to be investigated, the size of the sample was not determined and all the universe was taken to the research. Patients were randomly assigned to experiment group 1, control group 1, test group 2 and control group 2, respectively, in such a way that 61 persons were included in each group. However, the experiment group 1 was completed with 1 person, because 1 person did not want to leave without researching voluntarily. The data were collected between May 2016 and February 2018 by a face-to-face interview at the home of a multi-sclerosis-diagnosed disease investigator registered at the Elazığ Firat University Neurology Clinic. Introductory Questionnaire, Psychosocial Adjustment to Self-Report Questionnaire and Multiple Sclerosis Quality of Life Scale were used to obtain the data. The nursing care was administered by the patient investigator in the experimental group three times every 6 weeks according to the ROI Adaptation model in the patients' homes. No interference was observed in the control group of patients. In the analysis of the data, t test was used in number, percentage, mean, chi-square, dependent groups and t test was used in independent groups. Results: According to the final test data; The mean score of the Psychosocial Adjustment to Self-Esteem Questionnaire of Experiment 1 group was 71.43 ± 6.6, and the mean score of Psychosocial Adaptation-Self-Report Scale of the Experiment 2 group was 71.31 ± 6.7. The mean score of the MS Quality of Life scale of Experiment 1 group was found to be 176.21 ± 14.5 and the mean score of MS Quality of Life Scale of Experiment 2 group was 176.06 ± 14.7. It was found that the difference of mean scores between the groups was not statistically significant (p> 0.005). Conclusion: Home care provided by the Roy Adaptation Model increased the compliance of patients with multiple sclerosis only in some subscales but not in total and in quality of life. Key words: Multiple Sclerosis, ROY Adaptation Model, Quality of Life, Disease Compliance, Nurse.
