Abstract (EN)
Depression is a mental problem that usually goes with a low mood and affects the thoughts, feelings and behaviors of individuals. There are many studies on this subject in the literature and also new studies continue have been conducted on depression today. In this context, the main purpose of the research is to examine the correlation between depression and some variables that facilitate the processes of adults who is depressed. These variables are rumination, irrational beliefs and hopelessness, which form the basis of research. The sample of the study consists of 205 volunteer participants consisting of 140 women and 65 men in İstanbul, Turkey. In the study, it was aimed to determine the correlation between the variables. In line with these purposes, Demographic Information Form, Burns Depression Scale, Beck Hopelessness Scale, Ruminative Thought Style Scale and General Attitudes and Beliefs Scale Short Form were applied online for participants. In the data analysis of the descriptive study, Cronbach alpha reliability coefficients, Pearson Correlation Analysis and Regression Analysis techniques were used. The results of the research revealed that the participants with high rumination and irrational beliefs also had high depressive symptoms values. In addition to this, a correlation was discovered between depression and hopelessness. The results obtained from the current study were discussed in the light of relevant theoretical explanations and researches, and suggestions were made to researchers and clinicians for their future studies.
