Abstract (EN)
The understanding of national security has provided a significant strategic deterrence capability against the western world in the context of the long-standing traditions of statism of the Russian Federation. In particular, the Soviet Union and the RF, which is under the leadership of Vladimir Putin today, have strengthened its national security in the short and long term, either through the National Security Strategy Document, the Military Doctrine or the Foreign Policy Doctrine. Russia, which suffered a significant power weakness against the USA and western countries after the USSR, succeeded to a certain extent to return to its former power during the reign of Vladimir Putin, who rose from the RF prime minister to the presidency after the resignation of Boris Yeltsin. In particular, with the Eurasianism movement that got stronger during the Putin period, the influence established or tried to be established on the former Soviet countries in the context of the Near Environment Doctrine is tried to be further strengthened through the National Security Strategy Document, the Military Doctrine and the Foreign Policy Doctrine. Russia's attempt to invade Ukraine in 2022, with Georgia's annexation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in 2008, Ukraine's annexation of the Crimea region in 2014, and the conflicts in Donetsk and Lughansk in the Donbas region in the east of Ukraine, and changes the balance. This study reveals the effects of the national security understanding of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation, which continues today under Putin's rule, at the global and regional level.
