Factors such as; rapid increase of the world population, urbanization and accordingly the level of prosperity in social life, ultimate development of industrialization and diversification of gadgets which have been created by new technologies, have raised the energy usage thus energy sector has become one of the most important sector nowadays. Under contemporary circumstances, fossil fuels which have been used intensively for producing energy have created components which are harmful for the environment. Moreover, their high cost and depletion of resources have triggered people for searching new sources. Thus, with the development of new technologies, (scientists) have focused on renewable energy sources which are based on wind, sunlight, water, geothermal and bio energy. Among the power plants which have used renewable sources, wind power plants have been preferred all around the world due to lower potential risk, shorter construction time and lower investment costs than other alternatives. With the increase of the usage of wind energy, it has become an important responsibility to analyze the effects of wind turbines on power systems. In this thesis, primarily the criterions in Turkey which have to be considered at the grid connections of wind turbines have been demonstrated and have been compared with the criterions in the World. Moreover, the grid connection criterions in Turkey have been analyzed on a sample test system. IEEE 14 Busbar Test System has been modelled with DIgSilent PowerFactor software. Moreover, the state of adding a new wind plant to the same system has been studied and obtained results have been presented.
