The relationship of space-object-fear in art within the context of S. Freud's uncanny

This work will focus on questioning the relationship of 'fear – object – space' on art with linking it to the Freudian uncanny concept –one of basic dynamics of psychoanalysis-. Uncanny as a psychoanalytic concept which is uncontrollably metamorphing from all the things altered extinguished yet familiar all along, unexpected, unforeseen, ambigious, and becoming representable of the annoyer. In this context, we will borrow the 'Uncanny' which points out to the dark and irritant sides of the persons', objects' and, spaces' from Freud and expand its borders to see how it takes place of the production of artistic esthetics, how it is represented as an expression among artistic disciplines. In the development chapter of this work, samples of art and psychics which are displaying activity on this area will be examined in the context of our topic and the artifacts will be examined. Some noncomtemporary artworks which could be relatable with 'uncanny' will be illustrated in terms of 'fear – object – space' relationship. At the end of our work we will add personal work which are produced in the concept of 'uncanny' and; point out the construction and intellectual connections between personal art production and thesis study.
