Technical and musical detail analysis on Prokofiev's piano sonata no.4 op.29

This study analyzes Sergey Prokofiev's Piano Sonata No.4, Op.29. The aim of this thesis is understanding the influence of Classical era on Prokofiev's music and his approach to Sonata form. Sergey Prokofiev's musical understanding has two contrary senses and he reveals both of them in sonata no.4. One of them keeps pace with Contemporary Music and the latest musical developments, the other lines up with simplicity and embraces systematical and orderly music. Prokofiev started to compose this piece when he was a student and finalized it in his period of maturity. Therefore his different musical senses are clearly perceived in sonata no.4.
