Abstract (EN)
This article examines the anonymous translation of the commentary on the Ode of the Mantle (Qasida-i Burdah) attributed to Sa'du'llâh Khalvati. It comprises three main parts. The introductory part discusses the authorship problem and presents our related research findings. The first part covers basic information on the literary types on the Prophet Muhammad's biography, the biography of Imam Busiri, the original eulogist, and his motivations for composing it and lastly, the place and importance of the Ode of the Mantle in the Turkish-Islamic commentary tradition. A list of the Ode commentaries is presented in the end. The second part is devoted to the commentary itself. It's analyzed in terms of structure and content. The content analysis includes the commentary, titles of its sections and quotations and citations. The structural analysis is divided into such sections as language and style, prosody and literary arts. The third part provides the reader with information pertaining to the method we employ to prepare this study and with the full transcription of the commentary text. All of our research findings are recapped and evaluated in the conclusion. We hope the anonymous commentary on the Ode of the Mantle attributed to Sa'du'llâh Khalvati attains its rightful place in the Classical Turkish Literature.
