Analysis of the hydro-geo-chemical properties and some contamination parameters of the shallow groundwater between the Sadık (Hacıbektaş)-Budak (Mucur) villages

In this study, hydro-geo-chemical properties and some contaminationparameters were analyzed based on the groundwater samples taken from aninvestigation area determined between the Sadık village, Hacıbektaş County,Nevşehir and Budak village, Mucur county, Kırşehir. Laboratory tests wereperformed for the analysis of anions and cations. Parameters such as pH,temperature, electrical conductivity, total dissolved substance, dissolved oxygenand salinity were measured in the field. Diagrams were derived from theobtained results and suitability of the investigated water for drinking andirrigation water were analyzed according to the applicable standards andregulations.According to the results, it is determined that all waters could be used forirrigation (since SAR < 8), each of the samples except sample No. 6 have C2-S1class and have moderate salinity and could be used for the plants needing themoderate salt, and sample No. 6 was C3-S1 class and have excess amount of saltand could be used for only some plants, all samples has little amount of sodiumand they were suitable for any type of agriculture except plants sensible tosodium. Waters are suitable for any type of agricultural works but not for thevidrinking water. Waters are undrinkable water since some of the cations andanions for the usage of the waters as drinking water exceed the limitsdetermined by TSE, WHO, EPA and European Community.It is determined that each of the samples taken from the investigation area havenitrate content higher than the EPA limits.
