Abstract (EN)
In this master thesis study, it was aimed to develop epoxy adhesives which are used in many industrial sectors. Epoxy adhesives which are used in carbon fiber reinforced composite materials and Aluminum 2024-T3 material joints, not suitable for bolts or welding connections, were reinforced with neat nylon 6.6 nanofibers and graphene nanoparictle added nyylon 6.6 nanofibers and aging in purified water were investigated. In order to prepare test sample firstly, neat nylon 6.6 and nylon 6.6 which contains %1, %3, %5 ratios of graphene nanoparticles (GNPs) by weigth were produced. Having been produced nanofibers were characterized by means of fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scaning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Dispersion of the nanopartciles in nanofibers were imaged. Carbon fiber sheets and Aluminium2024-T3 sheets which would use adhesive joints were cut with apropriate dimentions and suitable surfaces were achived for adhesive process. After surface preparation, single lap joint test specimens were prepared according to ASTM D1002-10 standard by adding nanofibers to the bonding regions of carbon fiber composite and aluminum 2024-T3 bonding samples. The test samples were exposed to pure water at different durations (1,7,14 and 21 days) and tensile tests were performed. The samples obtained were compared with samples that were not treated with water. Effects of nylon 6.6 nanofibers and graphene nanoparticle (GNP) added nanofibers on bonding connections were explained in detail with the examination of crack surfaces by scanning electron microscope (SEM).
