Abstract (EN)
The coronavirus emerged in 2019 in Wuhan, China, and has affected the whole world. As of March 2020, the coronavirus case started to appear and spread rapidly in our country. It is known that coronavirus disease is highly contagious and life-threatening. Taking personal precautions and measures to protect against coronavirus has been accepted as effective against the virus. The Ministry of Health has started some communication activities to inform and guide society. One of these activities is the public service announcements about the coronavirus in mass media. Within the scope of this study, researchers analyzed whether the information presented to the audience and the measures and measures mentioned in the public service announcements broadcast by the Ministry of Health during the pandemic period were understandable and applicable. For this purpose, in the first stage of the study, analyzed the public service announcements with the critical discourse analysis method of Teun Adrian van Dijk. In the second stage, the effectiveness and success of the public service announcements are examined with the survey study conducted on the audience of the public service announcements that are the subject of the study. As a result of the study, it has been concluded that the methods and techniques of communication science, which are used to raise awareness of the society and create a positive behavior change, are used successfully with the public service announcements, the audience is informed by the public service announcements, and as a result, they develop a positive health behavior.
