Abstract (EN)

The work accidents and industrial illnesses at medical services become one of the top issues in recent years in our country. Industrial ilnesses take part in a very wide spectrum. The evaluation of an incident as a work accident or an industrial ilness during the implementation of a medical service is a difficult process. The work accidents that may occur in specifical units as surgeries and the precautions against such kinds of accidents are tried to be examined in this dissertation study. It is possible that every individual may experience work accidents and industrial illnesses in every industry. Medical staff may also experience various illnesses and accidents like other job groups regarding the characteristics of the service they implement. We can understand that medical staff may be exposed to various hazards and risks e.g the illnesses related with cutleries and respiration of gases used in surgeries are experienced by those who work in surgeries; chemicals as anticancer drugs at oncology units; radiation originated accidents in radiology units etc. More work accidents are observed in surgeries, intensive care units and emergency services where patience intensity is more and medical intervention is required. The precautions to be taken against potential risks and hazards in order to protect the staff who spends most of their days in the work environment can be realized by education, good practice, laws and rules Key Words : Work Accident, İndustrial Diseases, Health Care Services, Health of Employees
