Abstract (EN)

Today, people face many problems in business life. At the beginning of these problems is the situation of not being present at work. The state of being absent at work is closely related to the job satisfaction and burnout levels of the employees. Inability to exist at work is a situation where individuals who cannot work with full efficiency despite being physically present at work, who cannot be at work spiritually, and organizations are also affected. Sector employees who want to provide quality service in an organizationally competitive and business environment need to solve this problem. This problem arises from the fact that employees cannot completely perform their job descriptions, even though they are at work. This reduces both the productivity of the employees and the productivity of the enterprises. In organizational commitment, employees need to develop commitment to the institutions they work for. Businesses with high levels of organizational commitment provide a great advantage over their competitors. This makes organizational commitment important for businesses. The fact that the employees serving within the health organizations are also connected to their organizations will increase the success of the organizations. In addition to the satisfaction of the segments of society receiving service from health organizations, the satisfaction of health workers who provide this service is important in increasing organizational commitment. From the employees perspective, absence from work creates problems for individuals in terms of health and productivity, and can affect the general health of the employees. This situation, which is frequently seen in businesses in recent times, means that employees cannot fully participate in the workforce mentally despite being physically present at the workplace. Along with these negative situations, businesses may suffer from cost losses. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between absenteeism and its effect on organizational commitment. In the the oretical part, a literature study was done on absence of work and organizational commitment in health workers. The universe of the research includes all the employees in a private university hospital in Istanbul. The sample is health workers such as administrators, doctors, nurses, patient services, laboratory technicians, biologists, pharmacists, radiology technicians, anesthesia technicians, paramedics, audiologists, and physiotherapists in the specified hospital. The prepared questionnaire was, used to collect date between in July and August 2020, during the Covid-19 epidemic. There are 3 main parts in this survey. In the first part, information about the demographics of the participants was targeted with the 9 questions. The second part of the questionnaire arised the Organizational Commitment Scale, which consists of 18 questions and used for the scale of the organizational commitment levels of the participants. The third part of the questionnaire arised the Standford Presenteism Scale, which arises 6 questions and used to scale the presenteeism levels of the participants. The data of the surveys were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 26.0 program. For the analyses descriptive statistics were used like frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation. The validity and reliability of the scales were evaluated with exploratory factor analysis and calculation of internal consistency coefficients (Cronbach's Alpha). The normality of the data distributions of the sub-dimensions of the scales was analyzed using Shapiro Wilks and skewness and kurtosis values. Independent samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to analyze differences between groups. In ANOVA Post Hoc analysis, Tukey HSD was used if variance homogeneity was provided for group differences, and Tamhane multiple group comparison test was used if not. Pearson product-moment correlation test was used for correlation analysis. Simple and multiple regression analyzes were used for impact analysis. Statistical significance was sought at the 95% confidence interval. The result are provided and discussed in the result and discussion sections.
