The effect of total quality management on organizational identification in healthcare professionals

Total Quality Management (TQM) is a management philosophy applied to increase service quality and patient satisfaction in the health sector. This philosophy requires the active participation of all employees in the process of process improvement and patient care quality. Organizational identification is an important factor that directly affects employees' motivation, job satisfaction and performance. Organizational identification levels of healthcare professionals indicate the extent to which they identify with the values and goals of their institutions. This study examines the effects of TQM practices on the organizational identification levels of healthcare professionals. In the study, TQM practices were evaluated in a hospital operating in the health sector and the effects of these practices on the organizational identification levels of healthcare professionals were analyzed. The universe of the research was 298 data collected from doctors, nurses and administrative staff working at Hitit University Çorum Erol Olçok Training and Research Hospital. The survey method was used in the data collection process. The survey in question consists of three parts. Microsoft Office Excel was used in organizing the collected data and SPSS package program was used in statistical analysis. Pearson correlation and linear regression analyses were used in measuring the interaction between variables. In addition, the difference in scale means according to demographic control variables was examined with independent sample t-test for dual groups and one-way analysis of variance (Anova) for those with more than two groups. The findings of the study show that TQM practices positively affect the organizational identification levels of healthcare workers. It is possible to say that it can also make positive contributions to the general quality of healthcare services. In this context, it can be said that the successful implementation of TQM in the healthcare sector increases the organizational identification levels of employees and this situation makes positive contributions to the general quality of healthcare services. The findings of the study emphasize the importance of disseminating TQM practices in healthcare institutions and continuously improving these practices. In this context, it is recommended that healthcare managers adopt TQM principles and encourage employees to identify with institutional values.
