Evaluation of sleep quality and fatigue in health professionals

Abstract (EN)
In this study, the sleep quality and fatigue factors of health professionals have been compared as well as to what extend do other factors have an impact has been researched. The study group of the research consists of a total of 300 Doctors, Nurses, Midwives and Health technicians working in the Adıyaman Education and Research Hospital in the province of Adıyaman. In the study, in addition to the survey, formed of 30 questions developed by the researcher; the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale (PSQI) and the Checklist Individual Strength (CIS) Fatigue Scale have been used. The survey consists of two parts where the first part is related to the daily personal characteristics and behavior patterns of the health professionals, and the second part includes the PSQI and CIS scales. In the research group of 194 women and 106 men, 10.8% of the women stated that they meet their need for quality sleep, while it was determined that 21.7% of the men have quality sleep. When the occupational distribution of the health professionals and the fatigue factor were compared, it has been concluded with a 82.70 CIS Fatigue scale score that the most exhausted health professionals are nurses. There are findings of poor sleep and fatigue in the social life and the workplace environment of the health professionals, therefore it has been concluded that related studies to prevent these factors are necessary
