Abstract (EN)
This research analyses correlation between medical personnel's anxiety and depression levels and GAPED Short Form's valence and arousal levels, by which, was created from GAPED images that are including positive, negative, and neutral content while trying to find an answer to the possibility of a database that is relevant to Turkey's norms and can be used in emotion studies. There are no similar studies in the literature review. Average valence and arousal points of a Short Form that was created from 60 pictures of GAPED, has been analyzed with the participation of 230 medical personnel from Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University Gaziosmanpaşa Hospital. GAPED Short Form, Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Inventory and Demographic Information Form were used for data collection tools. In the experimental side of the research, it is asked for participants to look to the images on computer screen for duration of 4 seconds and asked to rate the pictures in terms of valence and arousal from 1 to 9. Data from the research has been analyzed with SPSS 22,0. Because data are not distributed normally, non-parametric methods has been used in evaluation. Mann Whitney U-Test was used to analyse whether the participants' gender, age, hand preferences, visual impairment and sleep disorder variables differed and Kruskal Wallis H-Test was used to analyze whether education level, smoking, Daily coffee and tea consumption variables differed. Spearman's rank correlation coefficient was used to evaluate the correlation between GAPED Short Form points and Beck Anxiety Inventory and Beck Depression Inventory points. It has been concluded that the average of valence and arousal points in the positive, negative, and neutral pictures differs by gender, age, education level, and vision impairment variables. It was determined that medical personnels' anxiety levels differ by gender, age, education level, variables; depression levels differs by age, education level and sleep disorder variables, In accordance with the data, it is concluded that medical personnels' anxiety levels with negative pictures' valence points have negative, lower correlation and medical personnels' anxiety levels with negative pictures' arousal points have positive, lower correlation.
