Özet (EN)

This study aimed to determine healthcare professionals' knowledge levels regarding Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection, screening methods, vaccination, and the national HPV vaccination programme, and to examine the relationship between these knowledge levels and demographic characteristics, educational background, information sources, and attitudes towards HPV vaccination. This cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational study was conducted in 2024 with 286 healthcare professionals working in public and private healthcare institutions in [City], Türkiye. Data were collected using a "Sociodemographic Information Form" and the "HPV Knowledge Scale." Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation analysis were performed. A significance level of p<0.05 was considered. Participants scored 18.73±4.73 (range 5-29) on the HPV-BS. The highest knowledge score was obtained in the "General HPV Knowledge" area (10.59±2.47), while the lowest was obtained in the "HPV Vaccine Program Knowledge" area (2.99±1.51). There was a significant difference in knowledge levels across age groups. Knowledge levels differed significantly by age, with participants aged 30 and above scoring higher (p<0.05). No significant differences were found according to gender, marital status, job title, or department (p>0.05). Those who had received education on sexually transmitted infections during their professional training had significantly higher knowledge levels (p<0.05). Participants who cited friends as their main source of information had lower knowledge scores (p<0.05). Those who had been vaccinated against HPV (12.2%) or expressed willingness to be vaccinated (69.9%) had significantly higher knowledge levels (p<0.05). Additionally, 74.8% stated they would receive the vaccine if it were free of charge. Healthcare professionals' knowledge of HPV was at a moderate level, with notable gaps in vaccine and screening knowledge. There is a significant difference between HPV-BÖ scores in terms of age, professional education and reliable information sources. While attitudes towards vaccination were generally positive, barriers related to access and cost remain. The findings highlight the need for widespread in-service training, inclusion of the HPV vaccine in the national immunisation programme, and increased public awareness campaigns.
