Defining health personnel's behaviours on spousal violence against wives

Abstract (EN)
This research was conducted as cross-sectional with the aim of determining the attitudes of the health workers working in the hospital and the factors affecting these attitudes on their spousal violence towards women. Out of the 1098 health workers working at the Dicle University Medical Faculty Hospital, which constitutes the universe of the study, the number of health workers to be sampled was calculated to be 308. As data collection tools, a questionnaire and 'the scale of attitudes and practices of the healthcare workers on spousal violence against women' were used. The questionnaire form consists of two parts. In the first part, there are questions about the sociodemographic characteristics of health workers and in the second part, there are questions on the factors that might affect the violence attitudes of health workers. The questionnaire and 'the scale of attitudes and practices of the healthcare workers on spousal violence against women' were conducted between January 15 and March 23, 2019. The data obtained from the study were evaluated by using average, standard deviation, minimum and maximum values, percentage, t-test and One-way ANOVA test in SPSS for Windows 25.0 computer program. The difference between the average scores from 'the scale of attitudes and practices of the healthcare workers on spousal violence against women', which determines the violence attitudes of health workers, and the situation of health workers to receive training on violence during their education, the situation of witnessing violence against women in working life, the situation of reporting cases of violence, the situation of considering that violence should be included in the professional practice, the situation of the effect of domestic violence on their professional approach was determined to be statistically significant. (p <0.05). As a result, it was found that the attitudes of health workers towards their professional roles on violence were positive (point average 97.8810.24). Regarding search results, suggestions were developed towards increasing health personnels behaviours on violence of couples against wives.
