Health workers' perception of leadership and authority: A research in Bingöl public health institutions

Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study is to examine the perception of leadership and authority of healthcare professionals in Bingöl public health institutions. Descriptive survey model was used in the study. Within the scope of the survey model, data were collected with a questionnaire form. The population of the study consists of health personnel working in Bingöl State Hospital and Bingöl Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. In the study, 300 health personnel were reached within the scope of convenience sampling. A 7-question socio-demographic characteristics form prepared by the researcher, Multifactor Leadership Scale and Authority Preference Scale were used. Data analysis was performed in SPSS 21 package program. The findings regarding the relationship between leadership and authority were analyzed. Accordingly, there is no significant relationship between transformational leadership and laissez-faire leadership and authority. However, there is a significant relationship between traditional leadership and authority perception. The direction of the relationship is negative. There is a significant and negative relationship between traditional leadership and authority.
