Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted using a correlation exploratory design to determine the relationship between psychological resilience, mindfulness, emotion regulation skills and alexithymia levels of healthcare professionals. The study sample consisted of 172 healthcare workers working in the Ortaköy District of Aksaray Province who met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using the Introductory Information Form, Brief Resilience Scale, Mindfulness Scale, Emotion Regulation Skills Scale and Toronto Alexithymia Scale. Independent Sample T-test, Kruskal-Wallis-H test, Pearson correlation and linear regression analyses were used in the evaluation of the research data. A statistically significant positive relationship was found between mindfulness and psychological resilience, emotion regulation skills and its sub-dimensions, and a negative relationship was found between mindfulness and alexithymia and its sub-dimensions. There was a statistically significant positive relationship between psychological resilience and emotion regulation skills and its sub-dimensions, and a negative relationship between alexithymia and its sub-dimensions. A negative and statistically significant relationship was found between emotion regulation skills and its sub-dimensions and alexithymia and its sub-dimensions. In addition, it was concluded that psychological resilience, mindfulness and emotion regulation skills significantly and negatively predicted alexithymia and explained 67.2% of the variance. Based on these results; increasing the psychological resilience, mindfulness and emotion regulation skills of healthcare professionals will contribute to the reduction of alexithymia level. Accordingly, it is thought that empowerment programs should be developed to increase the psychological resilience, mindfulness and emotion regulation skills of healthcare professionals.
