Risk management, prevention of health risks and dangers of employees in health care

While serving, health employees face either sourced from work or work environment risks and dangers of physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and psychosocial threats. Especially hospitals are classified as very dangerous workplaces. Along with the new developments in the international field, there has been a change in our legislation in the area of occupational health and safety with the last law no. 6331 on Occupational Health and Safety was published in the Official Newspaper dated 30.06.2012 and numbered 28339 and entered into force. In accordance with this regulation it requires the employer to make risk assessment and evaluation to provide employees health care and safety. In this study, health and occupational safety of health workers is emphasized and the dangers, risks and precautions to be taken by health workers are discussed. The study was prepared with literature review. Yet, in some segments of the study professional knowledge, experience and observations are included. Risk assessment and root analysis are pivotal to prevent occupational accidents and occupational diseases. The priority is the elimination of the danger in the precautionary systematic. If not possible, engineering measures, administrative measures, training and personal protective equipment should be provided to employees.
