Evaluation of patient safety climate from the perspective of nurses in their organizations

In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the patient safety climate from the point of view of nurses in health institutions. The research sample consist of 249 nurses. The research is descriptive and cross-sectional scanning model was used. It was performed by frequency analysis for the distribution of categorical variables. The suitability of quantitative variables to the normal distribution was examined by Kolmogrov Smirnov and Shapiro Wilks test and it was seen that the data were suitable for the normal distribution. Whether the measurements differed significantly according to the groups was examined by t test in independent groups. The analyses were obtained with SPSS 20.0 software. When the patient safety climate is evaluated according to the demographic charateristics of the participants from the viewpoint of nurses who work in health institutions, it's determined that there is no remarkable difference depends on the gender, education level, marriage status, and working unit. However, it's determined that patient safety climate is remarkablely higher in the 18-25 age group than in the 26-35 and 36-45 age group. The patient safety climate level of the employees who work for less then 1 year was found as remarkably higher then the other groups. It's seen that from the viewpoint of nurses who work in health institutions, patient safety climate differs remarkably depends on the demographic characteristics of participation, duration of work (lees than 1 year) and age group (18-25).
