A comperative study about patient rights level of consciousness for medical personal and patients

Accurate knowledge and perception of patient rights and legal regulations by healthcare professionals and patients plays an important role in reducing disruptions in health care, improving quality and thus improving the health system. This study was conducted to collect the level of awareness of patient rights of health personnel and their patients, based on their perceptions. For this purpose, based on the data ofthe patient rights regulation, the conveience sampling method was collected from 330 people in total; 180 health care patients and 150 health personnel working in Tepecik Training and Research Hospital of İzmir University of Health Sciences with 25 statements regarding the level of patient rights awareness. The questionnaire technique was applied to the selected group with convenience sampling method and the data obtained was tested with non-parametric tests such as Mann Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks. In the light of the findings of the analysis, it was understood that the level of awareness of patient rights of health personnel and patients receiving health services differed. In addition, according to the educational level of the participants, it was seen that income status and social security affect the level of patient rights awareness.
