The relationship between total quality management and employee satisfaction in the health sector

In this study, it was aimed to determine the relationship between Total Quality Management practices in a public hospital and the satisfaction of people working in this hospital.For this purpose, 103 people working in the state hospital were interviewed face to face.Personal Information Form, Total Quality Management Attitude Scale, Employee Satisfaction Scale were used to collect data from the participants in the study. Percentage and frequency distributions, independent sample t-test, One-Way ANOVA test, Pearson correlation tests were used in the analyzes performed using the SPSS 22.0 package program. According to the findings of the study, it is seen that there is a positive significant relationship between the total quality management practices applied in the hospital and the satisfaction levels of the healthcare professionals (p <0.01). When the other findings of the study were examined, it was seen that the thoughts of female healthcare workers on total quality management practices were similar to male healthcare workers and there was no significant difference (p> 0.05). In the sub-dimension of knowledge and skill use, which is only one of the sub-dimensions of employee satisfaction, it is seen that female employees have more positive opinions about total quality management practices than male healthcare workers (p: <0.05). On the other hand, it is understood that there is no significant difference in the mean age of the health workers' thoughts about total quality management practices and employee satisfaction in the age variable (p:> 0.05). However, it can be said that the satisfaction levels of the 18-25 age group are higher than other age groups. It has been determined that there is a significant relationship between the educational status variable and total quality management and employee satisfaction, and this relationship is in favor of high school, undergraduate and graduate graduates. (p: <0.05). It has been determined that the marital status of healthcare professionals has no significant effect on their attitudes and satisfaction towards total quality management practices. A significant relationship was found between the occupational variable and the sub-dimensions of total quality management, such as customer focus, employee participation, reward allocation, and empowerment, and this relationship was found to be in favor of employees working as laboratory technicians.A significant relationship was found between the institutional experience variable and employee satisfaction, and it was determined that this relationship was in favor of employees working in the institution for less than 1 year and for 1-5 years (p <0.05).It has been determined that there is no significant difference between the attitudes of healthcare professionals' professional experiences towards total quality management practices and their level of satisfaction.
