Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study is to reveal whether there is a relationship between the various activities of the unions and the union commitment of the members, and if so, which organs are there. The study was carried out in Sivas province among the members of public employees' unions in the health and social services branch. The study consists of four theoretical parts and one application part. In the first part, the definition of Public is tried to be made. In this part, the concepts of state and public, the elements of the state and the political transformation of the state in the historical process are tried to be explained. The definition of the activities of the public, the definition of public service and the conceptual definition of the public officials used as a tool while performing these activities were made. In the second part, personnel and union statistics, including organizational and institutional information regarding the health and social services branch, are presented. In this section, lastly, the personnel and union statistics in Sivas province of the service branch, which is the field of study, are presented. In the third part, the legal dimension of union activities and the types of union activities are mentioned. In the fourth part, the concept of union commitment is tried to be explained with the definition of the concept of organizational commitment and research on union commitment, its dimensions, factors and results. In the fifth part, an application was made in which the relationship between union activities and commitment was examined. Qualitative research method was adopted as the method. First of all, the interviews made with the members through the semi-structured interview form were deciphered. The resulting deciphers were analyzed with the MAXQDA2020 program. The data obtained as a result of the analyzes were interpreted and various findings were reached. At the end of the study, the approaches of the members differ according to the type of union activities. It has been concluded that the activities of the unions are effective in the commitment of the members, and the unions should increase their communication with their members. As a result of the study, it was determined that there is a positive relationship between trade union commitment and trade union activity results. When the opinions of the members regarding the types of trade union activites are examined, legal activites are defined as sufficient, collective bergaining activities and ecoomic activities are defined as insufficient. When examining the expectations of the members from their trade unions, it is observed that the members have a serious expectation of solidarity. It turns out that the most important factor in the emergene of trade union membership of the members is the sake of friends. It is the common opinion of the members that the trade unions are related to the political parties regarding the trade unions and political relationship.
